2023-2025

Background
Since 2023, I've worked extensively on both Super League Soccer (SLS), the biggest football game on Roblox, and its competitive ecosystem. On the game development side, I helped design gameplay mechanics, player progression systems, and in-game feedback loops. For the competitive scene, I established league structures, tournament formats, and ranking systems while managing competitive events. Through working across both areas, I ensured the game's mechanics and competitive systems complemented each other. By balancing high-level competition with community engagement, we created an ecosystem that supported both professional tournaments and grassroots leagues.
The game can be found here.
Super League Soccer Penalty System
During the revamp update for SLS, an aspect of the gameplay that I took part in rehauling was the Penalty Shootout system for tiebreaking. If a game ends in a draw, the game moves onto penalties that involve a 10-second 1v1 by a randomly selected player and the Goalkeeper. This system allows the free-flowing nature of the game to continue into penalties, maintaining skill and continuity, unlike it's turn-based click-to-shoot predecessor.

The game's evolution extended beyond core mechanics. As the competitive scene grew, I took on managing the league structure and tournament formats. This included designing a three-tiered division system to support players of all skill levels, organizing tournaments, and establishing competitive standards. The ranking system I designed, helped create clear progression paths for players while maintaining competitive integrity across different skill divisions.
My management role involved balancing competitive integrity with community engagement - running events that catered to both high-level players and casual participants, while maintaining clear communication channels between players, staff, and developers. The position required adapting tournament formats based on community feedback while ensuring the competitive spirit of the game remained intact.
Super League Intro & Branding
To support this growing competitive scene, I began work on a comprehensive statistics platform. The system tracks detailed player metrics, match history, and performance data, presented through an intuitive interface that mirrors professional sports databases. The design uses a clean grid layout with clear information hierarchy, making complex statistics easily digestible for both players and staff. Alongside this, I redesigned the streamed scorebug to reflect broadcast standards while maintaining perfect readability during intense matches.

Super League Broadcasting Scorebug
The project involves developing complex interconnected systems to seamlessly manage competitive matches. I'm designing a cross-platform solution that will bridge Roblox, Discord, and our statistics website, allowing referees to maintain real-time control over matches while automatically tracking and updating player data. The database architecture will handle everything from live match states to comprehensive player statistics, enabling features like real-time score updates, referee match control, and automatic stat tracking.
The scoring system presents unique challenges, requiring careful synchronization between multiple platforms. Referees will be able to control matches through Discord commands, which will update both the in-game scorebug and the website's database simultaneously. This will maintain competitive integrity while automating data collection for player profiles, team standings, and match history. The system will also manage features like player ranks, market values, and performance metrics, creating a comprehensive competitive ecosystem that operates across all platforms.
